Noyades en France : ce que disent vraiment les chiffres 2024-2026, et ce que les collectivités peuvent faire dès maintenant
L'été n'a pas encore atteint son pic que le sujet des noyades s'impose déjà dans le débat public. Le 2 juillet 2026, sur RMC, la ministre des Sports et de la Jeunesse Marina Ferrari annonçait un bilan de « plus de 90 » noyades mortelles depuis le 19 juin, qualifiant ce chiffre d'« inquiétant » (La Croix, 2 juillet 2026). Ce n'est pas un épisode isolé : c'est la poursuite d'une tendance amorcée l'été précédent, où Santé publique France avait déjà constaté une hausse notable des noyades et des noyades mortelles par rapport à 2024 (Santé publique France, communiqué du 5 mai 2026). Trois facteurs se conjuguent et expliquent pourquoi ce sujet mérite l'attention des collectivités territoriales et des gestionnaires d'équipements aquatiques : des canicules plus précoces et plus intenses, qui allongent et intensifient la saison de baignade ; une fréquentation croissante des zones de baignade non surveillées, en rivière, en lac ou en mer ; et des marges de manœuvre bien réelles, à l'échelle locale, pour agir sur ces deux premiers facteurs. C'est précisément l'objet de cet article : poser les chiffres sans dramatiser, comprendre les leviers qui existent déjà, et identifier ceux qui restent à activer collectivement
